Abstract
Objective: To evaluate changes of hematological parameters in patients with brain ischemic stroke before and after bone marrow fluid aspiration for treatment. Subject and method: 57 patients (40 males, 17 females) after a brain ischemic stroke from 7 to 30 days, aspirated 240ml of bone marrow fluid from anterior superior iliac spine in both sides at a sterile operation room to create stem cells package for treatment. Hematological indicators were performed before and immediately after bone marrow fluid aspiration. Result: Before and after bone marrow fluid aspiration, RBC was 4.89 ± 0.57T/L and 4.58 ± 0.65T/L, respectively (p<0.01), HGB was 144.81 ± 14.45G/L and 135.21 ± 15.06G/L, respectively (p<0.01); HCT was 0.432 ± 0.038L/L and 0.403 ± 0.033L/L, correspondingly (p<0.01); WBC was 9.37 ± 2.76G/L and 9.88 ± 3.15G/L, respectively (p>0.05); PLT was 333.65 ± 83.79G/L and 309.32 ± 88.62G/L, correspondingly (p>0.05). The white blood cell formula changed statistically and significantly with increasing in the rate of neutrophils and reducing in the rate of lymphocytes (p<0.05). The parameters of erythrocyte before and after bone marrow fluid aspiration changed without statistically and significantly (p>0.05). Conclusion: The procedure for collecting 240mL bone marrow fluid in brain ischemic stroke patients had statistical and significant changes in red blood cell, hemoglobin, hematocrit and white blood cell formula in comparision those before but within normal range; white blood cell, platelet and erythrocyte parameters changed without statistically and significantly.
